First things to try

  1. Update your iPhone: Kitchen needs iOS 17 or later.
  2. Allow notifications for Kitchen (Settings › Kitchen › Notifications), so timers can remind you to shake, flip or fold.
  3. To bring in a recipe from a website, open it in Safari and tap Share › Kitchen.
  4. From your computer, use our Chrome extension's Open on your phone and scan the QR code with the iPhone camera.
  5. Times are estimates: start checking at the time Kitchen shows, and use a food thermometer for meat, poultry and fish.

Recipes from Chrome

How do I send a recipe from Chrome to Kitchen?

Open the recipe in Chrome on your computer with Oven to Air Fryer Conversion, Recipe Converter or Sourdough Calculator. Click Open on your phone and scan the QR code with your iPhone camera, then tap the link. The recipe appears in Kitchen under Sent from Chrome: tap Save to keep it, or Open to cook it right away. In Kitchen, + › From Chrome (QR) shows these steps too.

The QR code opens a page in Safari, not Kitchen

Tap Open in Kitchen on that page. If Kitchen is not installed, the page shows the recipe in Safari and a link to Kitchen. Nothing is lost either way: the recipe is inside the link itself.

“This link does not contain a recipe”, or the recipe is shorter

The recipe travels inside the link, and a QR code holds only so much: for long recipes the extension shortens the steps and says so under the code. If the link was cut off when you copied it, send it again from the extension.

Recipes from websites

How do I import a recipe from Safari?

Open the recipe page in Safari, tap the Share button and choose Kitchen. Kitchen reads the recipe, shows it converted for your air fryer and saves it with a link to the site. It works the same from other apps that share a link or text.

Kitchen is not in the share sheet

Scroll the row of app icons in the share sheet to the end and tap More, then turn on Kitchen (tap Edit to move it to the front). Open Kitchen once after installing it if it still does not appear.

Can I import a recipe without Safari?

Yes. In Kitchen, tap + on Recipes and choose Paste a recipe link or Paste recipe text. For text, paste the title, the ingredients and the steps, each ingredient and each step on its own line.

“This page doesn't share its recipe in a standard way”

Kitchen reads the standard recipe data that most cooking sites publish for search engines. Some pages don't have it, or only list several recipes. Open the recipe's own page, try another site, or copy the recipe and use Paste recipe text.

Timers, notifications and alarms

A timer ended but I heard nothing

Kitchen asks for notifications (and, on iOS 26 or later, for alarms) when you start your first timer. If you said no, turn them on in Settings › Kitchen. With alarms allowed, the end of a timer sounds even when the app is closed or the iPhone is on silent. Without them it is a notification: check that the ring switch is on and that a Focus does not silence Kitchen.

I don't get the shake, flip or fold reminders

These reminders are notifications, also when alarms are allowed. Turn on Settings › Kitchen › Notifications, and allow Kitchen in any Focus you use while cooking.

The timer doesn't show on the Lock Screen or in the Dynamic Island

Turn on Settings › Kitchen › Live Activities. The Dynamic Island appears only on iPhones that have one; on other iPhones the timer shows on the Lock Screen. To pause or resume a timer without opening the app, use its button on the Lock Screen or touch and hold the Dynamic Island.

Do timers keep running if I close the app?

Yes. Each timer counts down to a fixed time, so it keeps going when you switch apps, lock the iPhone or close Kitchen, and it is still there when you open the app again.

Recipes and conversions

The air fryer time looks different from my recipe book

Kitchen's times come from a sourced table inside the app and are shown as a range with a time to start checking. Every air fryer is different: set your basket size and hottest setting in My kitchen (the gear on Recipes), and check that food is cooked through.

How do I delete a saved recipe?

On Recipes, touch and hold the recipe, then tap Delete.

Do my recipes sync to my other devices?

Not in this version. Everything stays on this iPhone. Deleting the app deletes your recipes, so keep the app installed if you want to keep them.

Which languages is Kitchen in?

English, German and Russian for now. Recipes can be imported from sites in other languages, but their ingredients may stay as written.

Your data

Kitchen has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends nothing to us. Recipes, settings and timers are kept on your iPhone only. Kitchen goes online only to load a recipe page you import with a link, directly from that website. Deleting the app deletes all of its data.
